Default skill change:Charm Animal

First off I would like to say that I have you the search and have not found an idea like mine....If there is one I am very sorry.
Anet can use this material in any way they like, for I make stuff for anet, not for me.

origanel charm animal Description :Charm target animal. Once charmed, your animal companion will travel with you whenever you have Charm Animal equipped.

Energy Cost : 10
Casting Time : 10 seconds
Cool Down Time : 0 seconds
Skill Type : Skill
Effect(s): Gets Your Pet

change to Charm animal : 10 energy 10 respawn

Signet.Choose one beast.Charm Animal is
permanently replaces by the charmed beast.

The diffrence in this skill ,"Charmed Animal," is that like capture signets you can buy as many as you want. This resolves the craving of more than one pet per character.
The signet still counts for its origonel attribute, so only rangers can have it....You can only have one signet out at a time, so if you had a tiger but you felt like having a lion out just go into town and switch out signets.
I would love for this skill to change into a signet so you can have more than one pet, if you have enough money you can go collect them all!
If you dont fully get the picture of what im trying to say please say so, and thanks for your time

How would I tell witch signet has my.....tiger?

This can be easily resolved by the same way you can tell what you captured with skills. Each pet has its own picture and lettering that would take over the Charm animals origonel picture, for example:

Charm Animal would change to:

if you capture a lion, Charmed Lion

capture a tiger, Charmed tiger

and so on, and so on

May I remind you this thinks like Animal Charm, acts like capture signet(goes in your non attribute side of skill list)

Hmm, sounds interesting, since all the pets are the same dmg defense health etc except for type of dmg , i don't see why someone wounds want all of them "Gotta Catch Em All! " :P and this would be a nice way to solve it, just don't know how feasible it is for Anet, its still nice suggestion

A new title? this sounds like a nice idea, but keep it at a skill, not a signet. and at the bottom of your skill description it says your pet's name to avoid confusion.

Not a bad idea - it'd be handy to be able to choose between having a dire / hearty / elder pet depending on what you want your pet to do.

However, I think a much more important and worthwhile change to Charm would be rolling Comfort Animal's effect into it. It's so cumbersome to have a skill on your bar that does nothing and require another skill in addition to effectively run a pet.

But I guess that's another thread. At any rate, I'd go for this.

is not a bad idea, but there's no need to complicate it so much.

I mean, we have a problem: rangers can only have 1 pet, and we want to solve that. What i suggest is something like the 'add hero' button but with pets, if you are in town and equip charm animal in your skill bar or your hero's skill bar, you'll see that the 'allies' zone in party window* will show the 'add pet' button for you and/or your hero. How this works? if don't choose any pet, you'll be able to capture one and the pet will be added to that list, so the next time in town you'll be able to choose that pet or to charm another that will also add to the list. You'll be able to change the name in that way as well, something like double click in the name will allow you to write it, so this will also be a solution for hero pets naming.

*Actually you can't see it in towns, but with this change it may do whenever someone equips charm animal.

yes on the skill change.

No on the title. There's only about 7 charmable animals per chapter; besides the UW spider, there's almost no skilled involved in charming. Now if it was raising pets to level 20... maybe.

Or getting all 7 to Dire or Hearty or Elder.

i think its a good idea but the signet could also show the evolution of the pet and also the dmg the pet does like 17-41 piercing dmg. Or they could make a zoo npc to which you can give you pet and if you need to change it you will give him your current pet and charm the other one from a zoo (he will be travelling on the map with others of your pets)

Something of this nature would be alright, but having several pets with several different copies of charm animal in your inventory could become a clutter issue, they should just be selectable from an in town menu like your search menu, not have a seperate skill for each, otherwise there is likely to be a lower limit.

Than there are the heros to account for, which can have their own pets...... that could get messy.

P.S. This was suggested before, more than once.

cool idea! Doesn't sound like it would give a huge advantage or balance issue either. Like some have said though, keep it simple.

i like this idea quite a bit. one question. (this has been in other posts also.) could we make the signet heal/res animal as well? especially if its gonna be a signet, u shouldnt have to waste 2/8 skill slots. i like the idea of it not being a signet, but skill also. perhaps we could even get a ranger pet minion master type thing... have 8 diff animals at once and no spells if u wish. would be interesting... either way i like the idea alot

I like the idea of being able to have multiple pets in GW and I think most of the suggestions on how to do it would work out just fine. Sure some people might get that "gotta catch em all" mentality, but who cares? Let those who want to get all the pets do so (I might be one of them )

I have 9 characters, each with a pet.
Each character has at least 6 heroes, each with a pet.
That's 63 pets so far, all at least level 16.
A drawback I would like to see improved is the ability for heroes to replace their pets, just like characters can do.

Now what's the point of a ranger being able to interchange his pet ?
Threads researching pet strengths show that they are all much the same.
Except appearance.
The only other difference is that the dire version differs in damage versus health to other evolutionary paths.
The spider is slightly stronger, & the bear has a slower attack rate.

Now if the differences were much more varied between species, there would be a reason for interchangability.
Eg: the moa was a much faster runner, the rat bite applied disease (more than at present), the lynx could jump steep heights.

But as it stands at present, the differences aren't large enough to worry about it.

It's only appearances, IMO.

I'm not particularly interested into having more pets.
Training only 1 pet towards Dire is already time consuming.
Now what i WOULD like to see changed is this.
Change the Charm animal skill to something more than only the I-can-have-my-pet-with-me ability. Make it so that you no longer need two skills just to make sure your pet travels along AND it's able to be ressed.
Make it a mix of both Charm and Comfort Animal.
I understand why this is not the case. Different casting times. But i still think having to bring two skills only to make sure your pet can travel all the distance is a waste of space.

Charme Animal
Charm target animal. Once charmed, your animal companion will travel with you whenever you have Charm Animal equipped.
You heal your animal companion for 20...87 Health. If your companion is dead, it is resurrected with 10...48% Health.

Nice idea.
Having a list of charmed pets to choose from would be good, even if it is just for looks (I, for example, would like to have a couple of them).

And would be nice a little bit of difference between different races of pets, so that there are more strategies involved (shall I bring the poisonous one? Or the one that attacks faster?)

I like the idea of merging "charm animal" and "confort animal".

So:
